Patrick Dodds Trumpet

Patrick Dodds began his training on the trumpet in Jersey, Channel Islands, winning an award that enabled him to travel to London on a monthly basis to study with RCM professor, and trumpet virtuoso, Mark Bennett. Patrick later gained his undergraduate degree from the University of Chichester, studying with Fraser Tannock. Patrick was awarded the Ashton Scholarship to study at Trinity College of Music, where he completed his musical training with Brian Thomson (principal trumpet of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra) and Andy Hendrie (second trumpet with BBC Symphony Orchestra), resulting in a Post Graduate Diploma in orchestral trumpet performance practice.

Patrick has had an extensive performance career. He is proud to have trained with ensembles such as the Young Musicians Symphony Orchestra, TCM Symphony Orchestra and National Youth Jazz Orchestra. He now works with many renowned professional orchestras, including the Camerata of London, Pro-Arte Orchestra, Southern Pro Musica, and Docklands Sinfonia. His diverse performing work also includes professional West End/touring musical theatre, National Theatre productions, commercial work with notable pop acts and a wide variety of chamber music. This has included working for renowned ensembles such as SuperBrass and J5O Brass.

Education, conducting and composition are among many of the prominent factors in Patrick's musical approach. He has coached the University of Chichester Brass Ensemble and is currently the brass tutor at a number of institutes, as well as the Senior Brass Coach for Greenwich Academy of Music and Drama. As a conductor, Patrick has led the Trinity College of Music Student Union Brass Band, and currently holds the position of Conductor to the North London Brass Contest Band, as well as being the Assistant Conductor to the London People's Orchestra.
